Erskine Mandarin Collar Blouse

The Erskine Mandarin Collar Blouse is developed from Bunka Basic Bodice Block (Missy). Inspired by a design in the Mrs Stylebook Summer 2021 edition, this beautiful button-down blouse has: 

  • Mandarin collar

  • Back and front yokes

  • Gathering at the front and back bodice

  • V-shaped details at the sleeves

  • Gathered cuffs

 

What you will learn from making this outfit:

  • Take basic body measurements

  • Develop the top design from the Bunka Bodice Block (Missy Style)

  • Interpret instructional drafting illustrations to develop garment patterns

  • Convert bodice block to garment pattern

  • Fabric layout and cutting 

  • Construction of the top, which includes sewing techniques:

    1. Attaching mandarin collar

    2. Gathering 

    3. Attaching set-in sleeves

    4. Sew on-point

    5. Creating buttonholes and hand-sewing buttons

Materials required for this garment:

  • Fabric: 110cm wide x 2.2m long (recommended fabric: poplin, broadcloth)

  • Fusible interfacing: 90cm wide x 60cm long

  • Buttons: 6 x 11mm - 13mm diameter 

  • Matching thread
